Hot on the heels of this year’s successful event, organisers of the WorldStar Packaging Awards are urging packaging companies all over the globe to start preparing their submissions for the 2018 awards, which are now open for entry, with Australia set to be the host country for the next awards ceremony.
Submissions for the 2018 awards are being taken up until October 6th.
More than 400 people attended the 2017 WorldStar Awards Presentations & Gala Dinner in May, hailed as the most important global packaging competition in the world. Organised by WPO (World Packaging Organisation), the event saw 140 winners awarded from a total of 291 entries from 35 countries.
Japan was the biggest winner of the night with a total of 20 trophies, followed by Germany with 18 awards. The ceremony took place in the same week of the WPO 98th Board Meeting, the first meeting of 2017, and was also held alongside Interpack, the major global packaging show, organised by Messe Düsseldorf, in Germany.
Judging for the 2018 awards will take place on November 9th in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, with the next awards ceremony taking place on May 2nd at the Marriott Resort, Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia.
The WorldStar Awards are open to the whole of the packaging community, whether a manufacture, convertor, supplier, processor, packer filler, brand owner, end user, packaging designer or marketeer. A Starpack Award is a good start to entering the gateway for a WorldStar Packaging Award.
To view the categories to enter, please visit www.worldstar.org/categories.
To be eligible to enter, a pack must have won an award in a regional/national competition in 2016 and 2017. It’s also important to ask the brand owner’s permission before entering.
Entries are also open for the personal award, the Lifetime Achievement in Packaging Award. For this, the WPO is seeking to recognise practitioners from all corners of the discipline who have made a significant and nationally recognised contribution in packaging over a prolonged period of time. Previous unsuccessful nominations from WPO members may re-apply.
