Enormous growth in ‘free from’ reflected by award entries

With three new categories this year – FreeFrom Food for Export, FODMAP Friendly Food and Milk Alternatives – the FreeFrom Food Awards have entered their 11th year. They are the industry’s only award for ‘free-from food’ such as gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, soya-free, and organisers say the increasing number of entries reflects the enormous growth in the ‘free-from’ market.
Organisers say there are few areas that cannot now offer a gluten-free, milk free and often all-top-14-allergens-free alternative.
The awards are run by the FreeFrom Matters team who also run The FreeFrom Eating Out Awards, The FreeFrom Skincare Awards and The Foodsmatter websites, one of the biggest online resources for anything to do with food allergy and intolerance.
The awards presentation will take place at the Royal College of Physicians on April 17th and the shortlist has now been announced.
Awards Director, Michelle Berriedale-Johnson said: “Again this year our judges have been amazed by the range and quality of the foods they have tried! We are not surprised that the number of those choosing to eat from keeps on growing – the food is just so good.’
