Foodie innovators invited to share their inspiration

After being launched earlier this year, The FoodTalk Awards are making a return for 2018 and are now open for entries.

The awards were inspired by the ‘foodie heroes’ who appear on the FoodTalk radio show every week and have been launched to honor the best of UK food tech innovation. They made their debut during London Tech Week in June.

The FoodTalk Show’s founder and presenter, Sue Nelson, believes the awards are recognising a whole new generation of food tech heroes.

“Launching the awards felt like a natural progression, having talked to so many brilliant people on the show,” said Sue, who is also leader of Tech London Advocates Food Tech Working Group and author of upcoming book, FoodTech UK. “I can’t stress enough how important this industry is to the UK economy and how much innovation emerges from it. We need to celebrate, support and encourage the people who are really making a difference. Plus, who doesn’t want to try sumptuous food and drink in a gorgeous venue? The first event surpassed even my wild expectations, so I can’t wait to see what the 2018 awards bring.”

Entrants can tell the world how they’re changing the way we eat, cook and live with their products. Anyone based in the UK, who has been trading for at least a year and is doing something new and exciting in food tech can enter.

Entries close at midnight on November 30. For further details, and an application form, visit www.foodtalkawards.com. Entry is free. Winners will receive a trophy and
Gold Award winners will also be invited onto The FoodTalk Show to share their big idea with its audience of ravenous foodies.

The awards night will take place at the Banking Hall on June 15, 2018, again as part of the London Tech Week programme.
