Arancino and Mocaccino: two new Italian-inspired liqueurs, both already award winners
Le Tendenze, a young distillery in Wichelen, East Flanders, brings Italy to the Belgian table with two liqueurs: Arancino, made from the peel of sun-ripened organic oranges, and Mocaccino, its creamy evening counterpart with coffee, chocolate and hazelnut. Both are new, and both took a prize in their first year.
Arancino: the sun in your glass
Arancino is a craft orange liqueur made from the peel of organic oranges, 30% vol. in a 50 cl bottle. The easiest way to picture it is limoncello with orange: the same Italian idea of steeping citrus peel, made with the peel of hand-picked, sun-ripened organic oranges from Sicily instead of lemons.
The recipe started on a trip to Italy, where founder Philippe Berckmoes was given it by an Italian woman. It is made to be a summer aperitif: neat, on ice, or as an Arancino Spritz with prosecco and a splash of soda.
Mocaccino: the evening counterpart
Mocaccino is a velvety coffee and chocolate liqueur at 18% vol. It starts from the same Sicilian organic oranges and adds Arabica coffee, Belgian chocolate and a touch of hazelnut on a soft cream base.
Where Arancino belongs to a sunny terrace, Mocaccino belongs to the end of a meal: neat and lightly chilled, next to an espresso, or poured over ice and desserts.
Award winners from the start
At the World Liqueur Awards 2025, an international competition with liqueurs from Italy, Scotland and Japan among others, Arancino won silver in the Fruit category at its first attempt. The jury tasted “sweet orange, complemented by baked apple notes” and an “excellent mouthfeel, balancing sweetness with a zesty sourness”.
Mocaccino won the Gouden Tavola 2026 in the Premium & Pleasure category, for products that make a meal special. The professional jury called it “a contemporary interpretation of the digestif moment”.
Made in Wichelen, nothing wasted
The idea dates from 2017, development started in 2022, the first batch ran in early 2024 and Le Tendenze BV was founded in May 2024. Arancino was first shown at the Tavola food fair in Kortrijk.
Le Tendenze does everything in-house, with its own machines and tanks. The organic oranges are peeled in Belgium: the peel and zest go into the liqueur, and the fruit goes to makers of orange juice and smoothies. Only natural ingredients, with no artificial flavourings, colourings or preservatives.
How to serve them
Arancino works as an aperitif and in cocktails: the Spritz, an Arancino Sunrise with tequila, the Aranjito (a mojito with Arancino, rum and orange juice) or a White Lady with gin.
Mocaccino is a dessert in itself. Pour it over vanilla and pistachio ice cream with a shot of espresso for an affogato, or shake it into a Mocaccino Martini.
Why it matters to FMCG readers
Premium liqueurs are a category where a small producer can still stand out on taste, provenance and design. Le Tendenze shows the playbook: an Italian product idea, local production, organic citrus with a zero-waste side stream, one distinctive bottle for the whole range, and competition medals to earn trust in year one.
Taste them
Both liqueurs are sold by the bottle, in packs and in gift boxes on the Le Tendenze web shop, with a custom offer for orders of more than 24 bottles.
Le Tendenze sells alcoholic drinks to adults (18+) only. Enjoy responsibly.
